Cookie and Local Storage Policy
1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?
Mobile applications use technology similar to browser cookies, known as “Local Storage” or “SharedPreferences”. This allows the App to store small text files directly on your device’s internal memory to improve functionality.
2. How Planook Uses Local Storage
Planook uses local storage exclusively for the following essential functions:
- Authentication: Keeping you securely logged into your account so you do not have to re-type your credentials on every launch.
- Offline Smart Packing List: Saving the checked/unchecked state of your packing checkboxes so you can access your list offline without an internet connection.
- Language and Unit Preferences: Remembering if you selected Metric (km, °C) or Imperial (mi, °F) and English or Hungarian display modes, and your light or dark theme.
- Your travel journal and scratch map: Journal entries, the cities you have marked as visited and your collected fridge magnets are stored on your device so they work offline.
- Favourites, saved trips and itineraries: The places you save with the heart icon and the itineraries you build are kept on your device.
- Purchases and credits: A local copy of your unlocked cities and credit balance, so the App can show them without waiting for the server.
- Audio guide state: Where you paused a guide and which guides you saved for offline playback.
- Device identifier: A random identifier generated on first launch, used to keep your session and notification settings apart from other devices. It is not shared with advertisers and does not identify you personally.
3. How to Manage Local Storage
These local data stores are strictly functional and necessary for the core utility of the App. They do not track your behavior across other apps or websites. You can clear these stored preferences at any time by logging out of the App or clearing the App cache in your phone’s settings.
